Mason Creek Greenway

Mason Creek Greenway

Mason Creek Greenway is a one mile, paved section behind the GE plant in Salem. Parking is available on Roanoke Boulevard, and the greenway follows the creek to Salem Turnpike. Features include a fitness stop and open fields for soccer and other sports. Over 100 species of birds have been documented along this one mile stretch. Frequent users include GE workers taking breaks or lunch, parents waiting for children playing on the soccer fields, dog walkers, and residents from neighborhoods.

The City of Salem has obtained funding to connect this section to Hanging Rock Battlefield Trail to the north and to provide pedestrian and bicycle linkages toward Peters Creek Road and thus to Roanoke River Greenway.
